Industrial Chemical Processing & Distribution

Our client is an established UK chemical processing and distribution business, known for delivering high-quality products with a strong focus on safety, efficiency and technical excellence. With a reputation built on strong technical expertise and a supportive, collaborative culture, the business is growing and expanding its production team.

They are now seeking a Production Chemist who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced manufacturing environment. Based within their UK operations, you will play a key role in developing, running and optimising chemical production processes, ensuring products meet strict quality requirements while maintaining safe and efficient manufacturing practices. The role suits a chemist with strong practical skills, a problem-solving mindset and a genuine passion for industrial chemistry.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise chemical processes to support efficient, high-quality production

• Run and monitor mixing and repackaging operations, including the safe handling of air-sensitive and moisture-reactive reagents

• Conduct quality control testing on raw materials and finished goods to ensure compliance with specifications

• Identify and troubleshoot production issues to improve process efficiency and minimise downtime

• Maintain clear and accurate documentation, including batch records, test results and technical logs

• Collaborate with management and production staff to resolve technical challenges and enhance manufacturing procedures

• Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental and quality regulations, including the safe handling of hazardous materials

Must-Haves

• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field

• Experience in a production, manufacturing or laboratory environment, ideally 3+ years

• Strong knowledge of industrial chemistry and chemical process operations

• Hands-on experience with analytical instruments such as GC, HPLC and spectroscopy

• Excellent problem-solving ability and high attention to detail, particularly around safety and documentation

• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

• Strong organisational and time management skills

Nice-to-Haves

• Knowledge of GMP and industry safety regulations

• Experience handling air-sensitive or moisture-reactive reagents in a production setting

• Familiarity with COSHH and hazardous substance handling within UK manufacturing

• Exposure to continuous improvement methods such as Lean or Six Sigma
